Do you have a hobby? A hobby is something you like to do for fun and relaxation. You could build or make things like birdhouses, scrapbooks, or train sets, collect things like stamps or playing cards or enjoy things like books, movies, and video games.
Maybe you can find a new hobby by looking through the 700s in nonfiction. There are lots of art and recreation books to help you decide.

What's black and white and read all over?
I love reading and learning about polar animals like polar bears and penguins and I bet you will too after checking out the links. You should check out the book below - it is a funny story that sneaks in math.

It's that time...
for the United States to vote for President! Adults 18 years and old can register and vote in all kinds of elections but only once every four years is the Presidential election. The Presidential election this time is on November 6, 2012.
If you look for books about elections and presidents, you will find all sorts of characters running for president. Here is a book cover that I borrowed from my good friend, Mrs. Cupples, the Tipps Elementary librarian.
When you see a link that asks for a username and password, ask me and I will give you that information at school. Enjoy!

Johnny Appleseed
September 26th is John Chapman's birthday. He is better known as Johnny Appleseed and is known today for introducing apple trees to several states. Fall is a wonderful time to enjoy all kinds of apples.

We the Kids...
We observe Constitution Day on September 17th with lessons and activities leading up to that day. This book breaks down the preamble so kids can understand it, too.

Is this really a diary??
Greg Heffley is NOT writing a diary - it's a journal but his mother brought the wrong type of book. Six books later and he's still writing. Book 7, The Third Wheel, is coming out November 13!
