Fancy that!

One of my favorite fancy characters is Fancy Nancy.  Our school is planning a Fancy Nancy / Handsome Harry Day on April 26.  We will dress in our Sunday best and practice our best manners all day long!

Texas, our Texas!

There's a lot to learn about our state's history and a good day to start is on March 2nd, Texas Independence Day.  Here are some good places to start:

ThingLink doesn't work on our Nooks that we use in the library so here are the links:

Love is in the air!

There are lots of gooey sweet books about love to read for Valentine's Day but I don't usually read those.  However, I am up for goofy, silly Valentine books any time.  Here is one of my new favorites:

A part of all our history...

Bud, Not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis is a Newbery winning historical fiction that tells of a young boy growing up in the Great Depression. This is one of many books that tell part of our history - African American history.

Hobby, hobby, hobby!!

Do you have a hobby? A hobby is something you like to do for fun and relaxation.  You could build or make things like birdhouses, scrapbooks, or train sets, collect things like stamps or playing cards or enjoy things like books, movies, and video games.

Maybe you can find a new hobby by looking through the 700s in nonfiction.  There are lots of art and recreation books to help you decide.

What's black and white and read all over?

I love reading and learning about polar animals like polar bears and penguins and I bet you will too after checking out the links.  You should check out the book below - it is a funny story that sneaks in math.
